What Madison kitchens have in common
Madison is where our shop is and where roughly two thirds of our kitchens get built. We know the housing stock street by street, which matters more than it sounds.
A Schenk-Atwood bungalow and a Hill Farms ranch present completely different problems. The bungalow has plaster, a chimney chase in an awkward place and a back stair that swallows the pantry wall. The ranch has a slab, low ceilings and a 100-amp panel that will not carry an induction range.

Plaster, not drywall
Most pre-1950 Madison homes have plaster over wood lath. We cut it cleanly, we do not just punch through, and we budget for proper patching at every opening.
Panel capacity
Homes on the near east and near west sides frequently still run 100-amp service. An induction range or a second oven usually needs an upgrade.
Historic districts
Work inside Mansion Hill, Third Lake Ridge and other local historic districts can require additional review when anything changes on the exterior.
Winter access
Alternate side parking and snow emergencies affect delivery scheduling from December through March. We plan loads around it.
A 1926 galley opened to the dining room
A closed 96 square foot galley with a doorway at each end became a single working room with a peninsula, a proper pantry and a window over the sink that had been boarded behind cabinets since the 1970s.
